Chikamorachi

Since 2005 Darin Gray (bass) and Chris Corsano (drums) have performed side by side as Chikamorachi. They are found most often together with the incendiary saxophonist Akira Sakata, either as a trio or in expanded line-ups with the likes of Jim O'Rourke, Min Tanaka, Masami Akita (aka Merzbow), Keiji Haino, Michiyo Yagi, and Yosuke Yamashita. The high-speed empathy that Gray and Corsano have as a rhythm section is at the fore of their many records together, the latest of which, Proton Pump with Akira Sakata and Mashiko Satoh is out now on Family Vineyard Records.

Sessions

As a session bassist, Darin has played on recordings by and performed live with Will Oldham, Cheer-Accident, James Toth/Wooden Wand, Rope, Yoshimi P-We, Bobby Conn, Neil Finn, Son Lux, Andrew Bird, Neil Hagarty, William Tyler, Danielson Family, Gastr Del Sol, Domenico Lancellotti (from the Brazilian band +2), Early Day Miners, Bunnygrunt, Jim O’Rourke, and Daniel Johnston.

Dazzling Killmen

Nick Sakes, Darin Gray, and Blake Fleming formed Dazzling Killmen just outside of St. Louis, Missouri in 1990. The following year SKiN GRAFT Records made its debut with a 7” single and comic book set from the band. Shortly afterward, Tim Garrigan joined the group, and the quartet began writing and refining material for what would become the label’s first, and the band’s second and final full-length, “Face of Collapse”.

Grand Ulena

"Grand Ulena masterfully bridge the gap between the uber-angular non-repetitive hyperstructuralism of the most rigid, martial modern classical composition and the traditional rock and roll power trio format while leaving everybody wondering what the hell just happened." -- Weasel Walter, Flying Luttenbachers
